Governance

The Chair is the responsibility of the Chairholder. Among its statutes are provisions for a Management Committee and a Scientific Committee.

Management Committee

As a general rule, the Management Committee approves the program structure and budget of the Chair. It assesses the Chair’s activities based on fixed objectives and establishes general rules to be applied in accordance with the policies and regulations of the University. The Committee meets once a year.

In addition to the Chairholder, the Management Committee is composed of a chairperson, in this case the Director of the Institute of Religious Studies (IRS), a representative of the Vice-Rector of Research and a representative of the donors. Observers may also be invited. The current composition of this Committee is:

  • Ms. Laeticia Cremona, Representative of the Vice-Rector of Research
  • Mr. Claude Gagnon, Director general of operations and executive assistant to the president, BMO Financial Group
  • Prof. Alain Gignac, Director of the Institute
  • Prof. Solange Lefebvre, Chairholder
  • Ms. Lydwine Olivier, Development Consultant IRS

Scientific Committee

With the Chairholder, the Scentific Committee acts in an advisory capacity to guide the program’s general direction and development. With the Management Committee, it reports on the relevance and scholarly value of the research projects and training programs that are conducted under the auspices of the Chair.
